All tattoos are custom designed and drawn for the client by the artist. Skills required include: quality customer service practices, steady hands, manual dexterity, soft touch (delicacy), attention to detail, understanding of the effects of light, color theory, color matching and patience.

Skin is the most difficult surface I have ever had the privilege of working on. The countless hours of practice it takes to have a steady hand using a tight grouping of needles inserted into a vibrating machine was daunting, but in the end satisfying. Building a relationship with the client, a trust and a means of quality communication to ensure they are getting exactly what they want, is key to becoming a good artist and having a successful business. The majority of my clients are long term customers that I have built a wonderful relationship with; they are not just clients, they are friends.

This was created for a music lover and a huge fan of the Grateful Dead. He wanted to include Jerry’s iconic handprint and a portrait, and after a lengthy discussion about his tribute idea, I came up with the 4 image compilation including a jerry bear and the grateful dead logo (which you can see here).

Maori style tribal tattoo art - "Ta Moko"
In the past, Ta Moko tattoos traditionally represented particular Maori tribes but for those of different heritage/ancestry – this is not the case. However, the tattoo can have a range of other legitimate meanings, such as your family (physical lives), prosperity, travel, strength, your career path etc.
